Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out students’ vocabulary in using scrabble. Vocabulary is component to master English as the foreign language in all levels. Scrabble is a word game that formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in a standard dictionary. This research is descriptive qualitative design. The population of the research is second grade at SMPN 2 Rambah in Academic year 2015/2016. The sample was 24 students’. The research use playing scrabble. The instrument use in this research is to find vocabulary based on word classes. In conclusion, the research findings that the students’ vocabulary based on word classes at SMPN 2 Rambah using scrabble. The percentages word classes are: verb (25,71%), noun (28,57%), adjective (25,71%) and another word classes (20,00%).
