Abstract

This study aims to determine the elements of drama on students’ drama performance played by students in the sixth semester of English at Universitas Pasir Pengaraian. Drama performance is a literary work that tells human life through dialogue and imagination on stage. In the staging of the play there are elements of drama. Drama elements are an important part of drama performance. This study used descriptive qualitative. The population of this study was taken from sixth semester students of English study program at Universitas Pasir Pengaraian. The sample consists of 28 students, class A is 22 students and class B is 6 students. In this study, there were several drama elements analyzed by researcher, including voice, blocking, audience, script, improvisation, expression, setting, properties, teamwork, and overalls. In this study, researchers collaborated with lecturers in drama courses as well as judges in drama performances of students in the sixth semester of English at Universitas Pasir Pengaraian. Where the results of the judge's assessment were then analyzed and concluded that the drama element in the staging of the play by the sixth-semester students of English at Universitas Pasir Pengaraian as a whole was a good category. Because these elements in general are following the assessment criteria. The elements of drama performance, in elements voice, expression and teamwork can be categorized as excellent. The researcher found in element audience, blocking, script, improvisation, setting, properties, and overalls can be categorized as good. So, in general, the element of drama performance by sixthsemester students' English study program at Universitas Pasir Pengaraian can be categorized as good.
