Abstract
This research analyzes the use of transition signals in articles written by JEE English Department students at Pasir Pengaraian University. Transition signals, such as “In addition,” “Also,” “However,” “In conclusion,” “Therefore,” and “As a result,” play an important role in connecting ideas and enhancing the clarity of written texts. This research focuses on identifying the types and functions of these transition signals based on established sentence linking theories. This research is descriptive in nature, using a qualitative methodology. This research is limited to examining transition signals, intentionally excluding other factors that may affect writing quality, such as grammar, vocabulary, and overall sentence structure. The findings aim to contribute to the understanding of effective writing practices among English language learners, by highlighting the importance of transition signals in academic writing.
