Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see how the student's perception toward small group discussion in reading comprehension at SMPN 4 Kunto Darussalam The data analysis method that researchers use is a questionnaire and interview. In this research, the researcher got the data from the questionnaire and supporting interview data of students' Perceptions toward small group discussion in reading comprehension at seven grade students of SMPN 4 Kunto Darussalam. The questionnaire had four options for students' Perceptions: strongly agree, agree, disagree, and strongly disagree. From the questionnaire, the researcher made 16 statements based on three indicators of Perception: Absorption of the object, Understanding of the object, and Evaluation of the object. The conclusion of this research is revealed that many students had a positive perception of small group discussions. Several students mentioned that small group discussions were enjoyable because they allowed them to engage with their peers in a more interactive and relaxed setting, making the learning process more fun and stimulating.
