Abstract
This research analyzes the reading comprehension difficulties faced by 8th-semester students during the TOEFL test at Pasir Pengaraian University. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through openended questionnaires consisting of 20 question based on reading difficulty indicators. The findings reveal that the primary challenges include limited vocabulary, complex sentence structures, time management issues, and difficulties in understanding main ideas and implied information. These factors significantly affect students’ ability to answer reading comprehension questions accurately. To address these difficulties, strategies such as vocabulary enhancement, consistent reading practice, targeted TOEFL preparation, and effective time management are recommended. This study provides valuable insights for educators and learners in improving reading comprehension skills, particularly in the context of the TOEFL test
