Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there is significant correlation between students’ self-esteem in Reading course and their reading comprehension at fourth semester of English study program at university of Pasir Pengaraian. The sample of this study is fourth semester of English study program at university of Pasir Pengaraian consist of 36 students. This research was quantitative research. The researcher used 2 tests, the first test is questionnaire test, researcher give 25 statements. The second is reading test, researcher give 15 questions of multiple choice test. Based on the data analysis, first, the result of this study indicated that the students’ self-esteem at fourth semester of English study program at university of Pasir Pengaraian is 86,8. The second, The result score of students’ reading comprehension at fourth semester of English study program at university Pasir Pengaraian is 68,39. Finally, there is no correlation between students’ self-esteem and students’ reading comprehension at the fourth semester of English study program of university Pasir Pengaraian. It was proved in accordance with the results of the questionnaires and score of the test about reading comprehension with significant value 0,627 > 0,05.
