Abstract

Broiler chicken farmers classified as MSMEs contribute more than 50% of the total national chicken production, demonstrating their strategic role in maintaining domestic food security. However, many farmers face serious obstacles in financial management due to low financial literacy. This lack of understanding makes it difficult for farmers to manage budgets, manage debt, and cope with fluctuations in feed prices that often squeeze their profit margins. This study aims to analyse the influence of financial literacy and financial management on the financial performance of broiler chicken farmers in Rokan Hulu Regency. The research method used is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis techniques assisted by the SPSS Version 25 program. The population in this study is broiler chicken farming MSMEs in Rokan Hulu Regency. The research sample was taken calculation usingthe Slovin formula due to the large population size, resulting in 38 respondents. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires distributed to broiler chicken farmers who were the research respondents. The results of this study indicate that financial literacy and financial management partially and simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the financial performance of broiler chicken farmers in Rokan Hulu Regency. Therefore, the better the level of financial literacy and the more effective the financial management applied by broiler chicken farming MSMEs in Rokan Hulu Regency, the higher the financial performance of the business will be. Recommendations for future researchers are to add other independent variables that may influence consumer preferences for food products
