Abstract

This analysis aims to identify whether there is a significant relationship among students' habits in watching English YouTube as well as their speaking abilities in the 4th semester English study program at Pasir Pengaraian University. This analysis is a correlational study. This study uses questionnaire instruments and speaking tests. The students involved in this observation are students with the 4th semester English study program at Pasir Pengaraian University. The observation process uses a total sampling technique. Observers use Pearson product moment with the SPSS computer application in analyzing data. Outcome of the observation show that there is a significant positive relationship among the students’ habit of watching English YouTube as well as their speaking skills in the 4th semester English study program at Pasir Pengaraian University, with a correlation value of 0.448. It can be stated that the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is received, and the Null Hypothesis (Ho) is denied. The findings of this study prove that watching English YouTube habit and their speaking skills are correlated with a sufficient level of correlation. However, the watching English YouTube habit is related to students' speaking abilities in the 4th semester English study program at Pasir Pengaraian University. It means that the more they practice the watching English YouTube habit, the better their speaking skills will be.
