Abstract

The low ability of mathematical connection of students is caused by the learning process by giving the concept directly and rarely there is the application of the subject matter with the daily life of the students. Discovery Learning model is a solution offered to overcome the problem of low mathematical connection ability of students. This research has a purpose to see whether there is influence of learning model of Discovery Learning on mathematical connection ability of class VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah Rambah. This type of research is quasi experimental research (Quasi Eksperimen) with Two-Group Posttest Only research design. The population in this study is the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Rambah. Sampling using Simple Random Sampling technique, so that obtained class VII 2 as experiment class and class VII 1 as control class. In the experimental class conducted learning model Discovery Learning, while the control class is done conventional learning. Data of mathematical connection capability was obtained by using test technique. The test is given at the end of the learning with the instrument is a matter of mathematical connection ability test that has been done validity analysis, difficulty level, distinguishing power and reliability. Data analysis was performed for hypothesis testing. Before the first hypothesis test is done prerequisite test is the normality test. Based on the prerequisite test results obtained that the data is not normally distributed, thus testing the hypothesis done by Mann Whitney test. The calculation result is obtained that zcount  ztabel is 12,86 > 1,96 with value in the degree of significance was 0,05, then reject H0. So it can be concluded that there is influence of learning model of Discovery Learning to ability of mathematical connection of student of class VII SMP Muhammadiyah Rambah.
